The technical stuff

More information for the technically minded amongst you.

The technical stuff

We print directly from your original JPEG files. We never compress or reduce file sizes to save space as some companies do. This guarantees you get the best quality results every time.

All our prints are processed in-house, so we have complete control over quality and turnaround time. So if find your prints are looking different to how you see them on your computer, it could be that your monitor needs colour calibrating.

Paper quality

We use the highest quality FujiFilm Crystal Archive and FujiFilm Professional photographic paper, which both produce prints that are guaranteed fade resistant for 150 years! Fuji boasts their paper gives improved whiteness, combined with excellent highlight and shadow depth qualities, making it a great choice for all your printing requirements.

For our PhotoBooks we use 170gsm Allegro gloss and 200gsm Allegro silk for calendars. All our greeting cards, postcards, and the covers of our NoteBooks, use 350gsm Symbol Freelife Satin paper. Both paper types are made from environmentally friendly pulp and are chlorine–free.

Our printers

All prints smaller than 15" x 10" are printed on FujiFilm Frontier 370 and 390 printers. These work by exposing red, green and blue laser light onto FujiFilm Crystal Archive photographic paper at 300 DPI (dots per inch).

For all our larger prints we use a Polielectronica Laserlab. This is a world–class laser-based photographic device, which prints onto FujiFilm Professional digital photographic paper at 254 DPI.

PhotoBooks, StyleBooks, greeting cards, calendars and postcards are all printed on an HP Indigo Press 5000. Printing with unique liquid HP ElectroInk, these printers produce superb image quality and high definition text.

Profile support

Please bear in mind that if you supply the same image for printing posters and smaller prints, with an embedded profile you're likely to notice a difference in the printing. This is due to the profile being used in the posters but not the smaller prints.

To avoid this problem, some photographers choose to paste their smaller images onto a larger canvas, in order to have them printed on the Polieletronica, and then just trim them to size. This ensures all their prints take full advantage of the profile handling capabilities of our large format printers.
